What is Portable Appliance Testing
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)
Under the Provision of Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992 (PUWER) you, as an employer, have a responsibility to maintain in safe working order all electrical equipment used in your business.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires electrical appliances and systems to be maintained by a competent person to prevent risk of an accident.
This is where PAT testing comes in.
The Inspection and Testing of In Service Electrical Equipment (PAT) was introduced to enable businesses to meet these requirements.
All of our testing is carried out in accordance with the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Code of Practice, with full Public Liability Insurance.
How often do my appliances need testing?
The frequency of testing depends on the type of equipment and the environment in which it is used. The frequencies we recommend are based on the guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), IEE and our experience. Our portable appliance testing experts will be able to assist you through any electrical testing requirements.
